Not all who die are allowed to rest.

These are the surviving records of the Dæthe Hunters, and of the land beyond the gate they swore never to cross.

Recovered from the Temple of Kasala

Father Shovan,

I am the one to spread the word of a God, known to few outside the land of undeath. Other than a few ancient elves and the God's worshipers, I know of Him. I dare not speak His name, for I fear His wrath. This God can see through the eyes of all undead, so I remain hidden from His foul creatures. I have met men who claim another god of undeath, a lesser deity, who rules in a faraway existence, and cannot affect this world at all. The deity I fear lives in our world, amongst the living, and not in some nonexistent other realm. Hear my words. I assure you He is real! His land is full of undeath and darkness, where nothing living survives for long . . .

After seeing and escaping His domain, I still live. For how long, I know not. His minions hunt me from dusk until dawn. Beware the great evil that conquers by trickery and subtlety. Spread the word, and take precautions before striking any undead, for their souls may be the last thing you see in this life. Perhaps, my warning will save someone from making the same mistakes as I did.

Kida

Kept with her journal by Father Shovan Bræntzeg, High Dæthe Cleric. Some within the priesthood whisper that these are not the words she wrote.

What the Hunters swear by

Every acolyte of the Faithful learns the same lessons before they are given a blade and a blessing. The dead do not rest without reason. Find the reason, and the dead can be laid down again.

The Dæthe Hunters

Priests of the Faithful of Kasala, sworn to hunt the restless dead and to learn why each one lingers. That is always the key. Kida is counted the greatest of them.

Kasala

God of judgment and balance. His priests call divine fire into the dark, and his temple stands where an older, crueler faith once ruled.

The Brium

The pendant every priest of Kasala wears at the throat, a sacred symbol of equilibrium. Every act shifts the scale.

Myr

God of the accursed and the hidden dead. His worship held the temple before Kasala claimed it, and his Rites are still copied by the priesthood. His legacy was never entirely erased.

Cimmarrii

The Hunters' maps end at its border. Beyond it lies the land of undeath, where, the temple teaches, nothing living survives for long, and a god whose name is never spoken sees through the eyes of every risen thing.

Kida went looking for the truth of it. What she found is the story of the Cimmarriian Chronicles.

Deeper records of Cimmarrii, its people, its knights and its lord, are being transcribed. They will carry warnings for readers who have not finished Child of Kasala, Part 2.

The Cimmarriian Chronicles

Priestess Kida, a sworn Dæthe Hunter, carries the scars of her past and the weight of her calling. Haunted by nightmares and driven by duty, she hunts the undead that shattered her childhood and left her orphaned. Yet as her journey unfolds, Kida finds herself tangled in more than just the fight against darkness. Truth challenges what she was taught, religion pulls her in unexpected directions, and her growing talents force her to question everything she once believed.

In a world where death does not always mean rest, Kida must decide who she will become… and what lines she will cross to get there.
